The shambles, that is the Newman government, seems to have impregnated the Abbott government, with the federal arm the latest to lose control of the parliamentary process. Premier Newman tried to claim credit for actions undertaken by the previous government just as the rudderless Abbott government, took the credit for the success of a child care centre on the Queensland/ Northern Territory border (a Gillard government initiative).
Newman is also trying to claim credit for clearing the backlog of public dental patients, without mentioning the $30.9 billion granted by the Gillard government for precisely this purpose. The LNP are good at cutting ribbons (on Labor’s work) and even better at cutting funding to ‘progressive’ plans and projects.
In the years that the LNP have occupied the treasury benches it is apparent that ‘special deals’ exist for ‘friends of the LNP’ (insert SMH link) at local, state and federal level at the cost of ordinary Queenslanders and Australians.

If the figures were to hold up over the course of an election the Abbott government would suffer the largest rout in Australian political history. This with the Abbott government yet to release WorkChoices Mk2 which entails scrapping the minimum wage (so employers are able to pay less than the minimum payment to workers) and doing away with the unfair dismissal laws (so that an employer is able to sack a worker at their whim, without redress from the employee).
The LNP is unashamedly now the party of the 1% and bugger the rest, they have always been right wing, but the slide into the ultra-right is very disturbing as it includes issues of human rights.
It is little wonder that opinion polls consistently put these cruel, nasty and mean governments on the outer. Too late voters have now found out that Labor governments were far from perfect but they were working to help rather than hinder.
In Queensland we have seen the LNP close schools and TAFE Colleges, sack thousands and plunge everyday families into financial strife, including the thousands of health workers sent to the unemployment lines. These cuts to services will haunt Newman at the next state election.

The dropping of our price on carbon could damage our economy, as our trading partners see that we are not with them in the fight against climate change. Wile new international initiatives are being announced almost daily, the solar-thermal project proposed for Collinsville was shelved resulting in the loss of a $100 million investment in our economy and our region. Australia is falling behind in so many ways.
Reflecting back on the position we were in only 12 short months ago when Julia Gillard was the Prime Minister and our federal government was well on the way to delivering fairness to all, it’s tragic what a difference a year can make. The hardship foisted upon ordinary working families by LNP governments (state and federal) is leading to escalating domestic violence and family breakdown.
As the cyclones develop in the Coral Sea each summer, and as they gain in ferocity I and many others will curse the LNP. As each summer bushfire escalates in strength and scope Aussies will curse them again.
If the LNP can not come to grips with 21st century thinking and its associated technology, perhaps the time has arrived for the LNP to be no more. The situation has become far too serious for us to allow them to continue with their old outdated ways. We need them to understand that in a globalised world, if we are not moving forward, we are actually going backwards.
