We should bear in mind that Labor left the unemployment rate at 5.2% which encompassed a price on carbon pollution. Now, without the price on carbon (that the coalition claimed was a job killer) they have mismanaged the rate up to 6.4% in 11 short months. Heaven help us in the coming 2 years of their mismanagement.
The Queensland LNP government who have had longer to mismanage have driven the state’s unemployment rate higher than the national average. Their bold plan seems to be to sell government assets which generate revenue, thus reducing government income which in turn helps fund services, which will leads to fewer services, which will mean more public sector job losses (alongside the sackings that always follow privatisation). The winner is private interests, and the big losers are all of us. Genius!

The old cartoon character Mr Magoo has been revived thanks to the bumbling escapades of the federal Attorney-General George Brandis, who couldn’t explain the word “metadata” as part of a policy he was announcing. Frightening… given that the Minister is giving authority to our security agencies to track “metadata.” The A-G came under further ridicule for his botched selling of his 18C changes which have been sidelined for now. They now have Andrew Bolt to answer to.
The Employment Minister (also a member of the “ultra-right club”) tried to propose a link between abortion and breast cancer, a link that nobody except the lunatic right religious sect knows about. Yet another scandal that made the government look like the Keystone Cops, but not the last example.
Treasurer Hockey has indicated that he believes he is Australia’s most hated politician (does he want sympathy or agreement?) because of his regressive federal budget. How else would ordinary Australians feel when his ideology punishes average wage earners and pensioners? The Abbott government is a shambles, the past week only confirming the fact.
The agricultural industry has stated that “climate change” is a reality, well, talk about a statement of the blindingly obvious. Added to their climate related woes they will have to endure an oversupply of their product as Russia responds to Tony Abbott’s ill-advised on the downing of flight MH17. The cost - at least $400 million.

I sincerely hope that the scourge of workplace bullying is eradicated, and that increases in productivity can be achieved by means other than (as I experienced) to be threatened with the sack if unpaid overtime was not worked.
It’s interesting to see that 56% of Townsvillians want a new superstadium and entertainment centre and that even more, 58% do not want the Port of Townsville sold/leased. Given the amount of billion dollar projects under way in south-east Queensland at present, without asset sales, one can certainly relate to the majority of Townsvillians feelings.
A local journalist has suggested that the Newman government should throw their chequebook at Townsville projects to retain LNP votes, how very shallow. Townsville people understand that this LNP government has not, and does not care about rural and regional Queensland, and they are not about to change their collective minds at 5 minutes to midnight because of a late, desperate bribe from the Newman government.
The LNP in Townsville has had all the backing of business as one would expect, but the people have a different view and are expressing it freely. The LNP pollies always say that they will work harder; the lack of effort is a telling factor here, as is the direction that they are taking, (the wrong direction) the Queensland public have had enough of their ultra-right wing policies and have decided that it is time for the LNP to go. The message that was delivered at recent by-elections has still not been heard by the LNP “WE DON’T WANT OUR ASSETS SOLD.”
