If we use the starting point of this effect as employment policy. I've been following many of the comments provided to online news services in relation the Coalition's policy mish-mash on jobs and the unemployed. They all say very similar things - there is no widespread support for this approach, there many more prospective workers than there are jobs, unemployment is reaching crisis point in the under 20's and the over 50's, the evidence shows work for the dole doesn't work, and 40 applications a month will create a burden for job-seekers and their prospective employers.
Those online posters... people who are living the reality of what is going on every single day... are right. Further highlighting how out of touch the government is.
But having spent 6 years in opposition developing really good slogans and really bad policies (or no policy at all) - this is what you get... a government who needs to outsource its policy development to right wing extremists in the IPA.. a body heavily funded by Rupert Murdoch and big tobacco (though they won't admit that publicly).

One problem with this plan (in addition to many others) is Adani is carrying billions of dollars in debt, and has little to no experience in coal mining. They have also announced that they will not begin developing this mine until the coal price improves (which may never happen if we're lucky). This development is of course linked to expansion at Abbot point, which first needs to clear the hurdle of legal challenges, before they get to the proposed start date of 2016.
Added to the stupidity of this plan is great environmental risk - Adani have apoor environmental record and a culture of secrecy and cover-up in this area. So should problems arise, they will not be flagged quickly and they will not be addressed in a timely manner.
Greg Hunt's reaction to all this... give the mine approval out to June 2090.. genius. At least that's what Ian the Climate Denialist Potato thinks.
To sum this project up..It seems it will produce very few local jobs, far off into the future, in the interim will do unknown levels of damage to the reef and groundwater (many which will be hidden if Adani stay true to form), with knock on effects for the fishing industry and the tourism industry... far bigger employers than mining.
Tony Dumb Dumb thinks its a good plan, because he's so... Dumb.

Hockey's magic pudding budget will somehow fix everything, that's why he's looking to by-pass the house of review... because it's such a brilliant plan.
What do Smokin' Joe and The Cormanator have rolled up in their stogies? Wacky Tobaccy?
But Cormann has gone further. He has pushed through the changes to Labor's Future of Financial Advice (FoFA) legislation which includes changes to please the banks. So, for those who are pushed out of work by the Coalition's mismanagement of the economy, their retirement savings are now in greater peril from dodgy financial advisors. The recent Commonwealth bank example shows that some of the worst offenders work for the big banks, and the banks have been working to hide their tracks.
For the Commonwealth in particular there were red flags back in 2012. And 'the apology' only came a few weeks ago.
It makes you shake your head. At every turn the Coalition is making changes that put everyone's security and prosperity at risk... unless you're a big polluter, a big miner, a media mogul, or a big bank.
Tony Dumb Dumb and his pack of nincompoops are beyond incompetent... they are dangerous loons. They simply have to go!
