Sadly, I'm so slow these days that I cannot read the ads before they flick to another one, but from what I was able to read, it paints a frightening story for Australians.

It constantly astounds me (beyond belief) that the LNP arrogantly shout that they are the only ones that can deliver a budget surplus and that Labor NEVER can or will.

Also, in regards to the Howard first-term austerity measures I mentioned above - polls were showing quite clearly that these measures were quite unpopular and the Howard government would be obliterated at the next election.

Thanks John. I see some disturbing parallels between Tony Dumb Dumb and 'Honest John' too. I have no doubt that Abbott is keen to play what he sees as his strongest hands - repealing the carbon tax (which continues to go horribly wrong), and Xenophobia. So far... his approval continues to plummet, while Howard got a big lift out of his scare tactics
