Rather than our nation being fools for leading the way on pricing Carbon, we're being vindicated as other nations catch up.
The tactic to slow the inevitable change that is required - has been to muddy the waters and keep shifting the debate. Cosmic rays. Misrepresenting the data. Fabricating a conspiracy among scientists.
The only significant, defensible complaint left to Climate Change Realists (who don't support the government's action) has been that placing a price on Carbon is pointless if we go it alone. Any action we take would be meaningless if the world's biggest emitters (namely the US and China) did nothing. It is also an argument that Climate Change Sceptics and conspiracy theorists have found it convenient to hide behind
In 2013 that has now become a non argument. There is nowhere to hide. The truly foolish are being exposed.
The US is taking Action
See below.
Thankfully they are quickly becoming exposed for their lack of knowledge and understanding on the issue, and are being sidelined by those who are committed to taking action.
China is taking Action
Putting aside the environmental benefits, the US has been watching China's economic activity in relation to renewables closely. And they have seen themselves being left behind since 2010.
Given that the International community is fast catching up to Australia's position in some areas, and has over-taken us in other areas (such as Solar technology and the associated industries), now hardly seems the time to put ourselves in reverse.
But that is exactly what the Abbott Opposition is proposing. We've been held back for too long by those who are good with slogans, loose with the truth, and those who actively seek to remain uninformed.
It's time for bipartisanship on an issue which is in everybody's interests... and for those who are dragging their feet when time is of the essence.. it's time to sideline them. The upcoming Federal election will be a time for us as a Nation to decide if it is time to move forward or backwards.
