The circumstances which would allow corruption to run rampant (the conditions which were in place under Bjelke-Petersen) have returned courtesy of the Newman government. That's not my opinion, it's the considered opinion of Tony Fitzgerald.
There is an excellent critique of the Newman government's systematic dismantling of anti-corruption protections on the Independent Australia website.

Come March 2015 (unless Can Do panics and pulls the trigger early) will the best opportunity to provide a message that can't be ignored. A vote for Scott Stewart, Coralee O'Rourke or Aaron Harper is a vote for Equity (over vested interests), Transparency (over a lack of accountability), and Community connection (over arrogance).
Based on their track record and what they have said publicly, returning the Newman government for another term clearly means massive asset sales, increased unemployment, continued rises in power prices, and more erosion of services.
And they are just things we know about. The real danger is all the things they are doing that we don't know about, and how they have designed or removed checks and balances so we are never likely to know.
There is an equal sense of disarray federally... in some kind of record, the Federal budget is still in the news. I'll leave the last word to the cartoonists below, and to my personal favourite... First Dog on the Moon.
